The best way to prepare yourself to fight off an attacker is to take a self-defense class. Reading about Self-Defense is useful but its only the first part. The second part is to physically practice the moves, in order to do them properly on an attacker, especially when your level of stress elevates. Learning Self-Defense in our Tae Kwon Do classes are the safest ways to prepare yourself. So when something does happen and you are forced to defend yourself or your family, you will know exactly what to do. Knowing that you could do something, if it came down to it, will give you a greater peace of mind.
The first rule in self-defense is to prevent a dangerous situation all together. Your greatest technique would be to never have to use a self-defense technique. The best way to handle a threat of attack, is to try to get away. This is the best way to avoid any injury. However, if you cannot get away and find you need to protect yourself, knowing self-defense technique can be invaluable. Self-defense is important for men and women.
Men are more likely to fight back, but in doing so, they risk making a situation worse. The attacker may become more angry and violent. So to avoid this try all things to not have to use Self-Defense. Since, the majority of violent attacks are on women, we see more women coming to our classes to learn self-defense techniques. A woman that’s alone will almost always be targeted before a man. Trust your instinct, which could be just a gut feeling, to help you prevent being attacked. Always use common sense, this can help prevent an attack and get you out of a bad situation.
At K-Tiger Martial Arts, you will learn Tae Kwon Do which is variety of strikes, block, throws, take-down, and joint locks that can help in a number of threatening situations. The instructors at K-Tiger will teach you special techniques for breaking an attacker’s grasp and effective strikes for disabling your opponent, so you can get away. You will learn ways to surprise your attacker and catch them off guard, which is especially useful if they are much larger than you.
